Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART)

Mr. Schuiling regularly donates to a non-profit 501(c)(3) no-kill animal rescue and support group called Homeless Animals Rescue Team (HART). Incorporated in 1990, these amazing folks take in and rehome abused and unwanted dogs and cats so they can have better and happier lives with loving owners. So far in 2015 alone, Mr. Schuiling has donated enough to cover all the costs of saving and transporting nearly 200 dogs! These costs are normally covered by HART themselves, so we couldn't be more proud to be such a big help to the rescue group. If you'd like to learn more about the HART group, check out that link above. Karen and William E. Schuiling have made several generous donations to HART on behalf of Brown Automotive Group. They have donated almost $12,000 in 2017 alone to HART in their efforts to help make sure the rescued animals get the care they deserve. Mr. and Mrs. Schuiling continue to make monthly contributions to this worthy cause.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Washington D.C.

Brown Automotive Group and William Schuiling sponsored the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Washington D.C. on Saturday September 8, 2018. The race featured pink-clad participants and brought people from across the nation together on Freedom Plaza to raise close to $600,000 for breast cancer research! About 1 in 8 women in the United States (12.4%) will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. A man's lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000. Deaths for women in the U.S. due to breast cancer are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer. Given that this disease is so prevalent in our country, finding a cure is imperative. Fundraising through the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure helps support research, care, and community initiatives. Support for breast cancer research provides better detection, prevention and treatment for all types of breast cancers. Fundraising also delivers additional access to innovative clinical trials and low to no-cost screening, diagnosis and treatment.Through advocacy in the community, Susan G. Komen is able to provide access to affordable yet premium breast cancer treatment and overall breast health services. Brown's Car Stores and William Schuiling are proud to sponsor such a wonderful organization as Susan G. Komen and be part of the efforts to find cure!

The Logan Phoenix Golf Open

Since 2014, Brown Automotive Group and William E. Schuiling have sponsored The Logan Phoenix Golf Open which is an event put on by James and Mary Stone in memory of their son, Logan Phoenix. Logan was diagnosed with congenital glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a type of brain tumor, on October 24, 2012. The surgeon and oncologist were from the Children's National Hospital in Washington D.C. and took outstanding care of Logan. Surgery had been performed to eradicate the tumor, but it was too vascular to be removed. Sadly, Logan passed away from related causes on October 25, 2012. To continue Logan's memory, and to help other families through the Children's Miracle Network, all proceeds from The Logan Phoenix Golf Open go to the Children's Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals at Children's National. Funds go towards anything from routine doctor checkups, to the purchase of preemie diapers, to caring for children with terminal illnesses in our immediate area. Through the 2013-2016 events, $21,600 has been raised for Children's Miracle Network by the golf open. The 5th Annual Logan Phoenix Golf Open was held on September 22, 2017 at The South Riding Golf Club, located in South Riding, VA. Brown's Dulles Nissan, Brown's Leesburg Hyundai, Brown's Manassas Hyundai, Brown's Manassas Subaru, Brown's Manassas KIA and Brown's Fairfax Mazda were all 2017 sponsors.
