NY Times Reviews the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

John Pearley Huffman of the New York Times reviewed three versions of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We don't want to spoil the ending, but he says the new Sonata "is the first car Hyundai has sold in America that's so good and so keenly priced that any buyer shopping in its market segment must seriously consider it. It's the first unavoidable Hyundai."

2011 Hyundai Sonata Receives 5-Star Crash Safety Rating

The 2011 Hyundai Sonata is one of only two vehicles to receive 5 stars in the newly-revamped highway safety ratings by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Starting with 2011 models, NHTSA introduced tougher tests and rigorous new 5-Star Safety Ratings that provide more information about safety feature performance and crash avoidance technologies. Because of the more stringent tests, 2011 model ratings are not comparable to 1990-2010 vehicles.

Edmunds.com is the latest to jump on the 2011 Hyundai Sonata bandwagon with this great review.

It is amazing to think that while other manufacturers offer a V6 option, Hyundai doesn't. Instead they give you a turbocharged four-cylinder that gives you more power than a V6 and better fuel economy than a four-cylinder.

Some highlights from the Edmunds.com review include:

The new turbo-4's 274-horsepower rating is indeed better than all family?
According to Consumer Reports, "the family sedan group is among the most competitive and largest category in the car market. While there are many choices fitting a variety of budgets, some models stand out more than others."

"One example is the newly-redesigned 2011 Hyundai Sonata. The previous-generation Sonata was mid-pack in our ratings, but the new model ranks with our top-rated sedans."

Pretty nice praise.

More rave reviews for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata

Jack Nerad on Driving Today had this to say about the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata:

"The new Sonata is not just transportation; it's an appealing vehicle. Beyond the styling, the biggest piece of news is that Hyundai has decided to forego a V-6 engine. Instead, its Theta Two 2.4-liter direct injection four cylinder is the lone engine choice, offering an excellent 22 miles per gallon in the city, 35 miles per gallon on?

It's been a great week for Hyundai!
