The 2013 Honda Accord Coupe earned top safety awards by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)
NHTSA gave the 2013 Accord Coupe a 5-star overall vehicle score. In order to earn the overall 5-star score from NHTSA, the coupe earned 5-stars in rollover, frontal, side-barrier and side-pole crash test categories.
IIHS named the coupe a "top safety pick +" with "good" ratings in all test modes. In order to earn the "+," the coupe also received a "good" rating on the new small-overlap frontal crash, which tests the vehicle in a front-corner crash.
The 2013 Accord was redesigned with a reinforced frontal structure which Honda claims enhances crash-energy management. It also has a new side-airbag construction designed to lower the risk of injury to passengers sitting next to the side airbag.
